Ko'olau Guitar & 'Ukulele

Ko'olau Guitars and 'Ukuleles are professional quality, hand crafted instruments. Extensive time and care is devoted to each instrument to ensure optimum tone and projection.

Although we manufacture guitars, our primary focus has always been on the production of high end 'ukuleles. The 'ukulele has finally achieved a well deserved professional status in the world of stringed instruments, now heard world wide in the genres of jazz, folk, country, rock, and of course, Hawaiian music.

Our shop is located in Wahiawa, in the central highland area of the island of Oahu, approximately 15 minutes from the North Shore, and 45 minutes from Honolulu.

All Ko'olau and Pono instruments are made of solid woods. Although we do extensive research with environmentally sustainable new woods, most of our instruments are made of Koa, Mahogany, Rosewood, Ebony, Kulawood, Tropical Ash, 'Ulawood, and Kolohala.

See the menu bar for Location, Shop tour, instrument models and photos, descriptions of different woods used, and read about the history of the 'ukulele and its interesting migration to the Hawaiian Islands.
