“Hawaii Volcanos”
Premium Master Grade curly Koa top, back, and sides. Abalone top and back purfling with ebony binding. Ebony bridge, faceplate and fingerboard with inlays of a dramatically beautiful erupting volcano, using blue, green, Tahitian black and gold pearl, and paua abalone. Various woods for inlay used including very rare red wood called Kingwood or Pink Ivory. Fire, lava, and smoke pour out and down the “mountain” flowing down the fingerboard and eventually into the ocean.
At the 12th fret spacing is our pearl Ko’olau logo inlay, outlined with Tahitian black pearl, and at the 4th fret is a pearl inlay phrase reading “ahi ‘ai honua Hawaii” which literally translated from the Hawaiian language means “the earth is eating fire in Hawai’i”
Final fitting is with the highest quality Waverly gold tuners and beautifully polished ebony buttons, bone nut and saddle, and a high gloss lacquer finish making this instrument one of our special, limited edition ‘ukuleles for this year. Includes a custom Ko’olau hardshell case.
