Ko’olau Lap Steel Guitar We are proud to introduce a our newest instrument, the Ko’olau Lap Steel Guitar. With a respectful nod to the legendary Hawaiian lap steel tradition, the Ko’olau lap steel incorporates the magical appeal of the famous Koa Weissenborns, combined with the latest in steel guitar technology, the result being an amazingly resonant and visually stunning instrument. The combination of Mahogany and Koa give the Ko’olau lap steel a full, rich tone, with all the sustain one expects from the finest lap steel instruments. We are offering two models, a KLS-1 and KLS-2. Both are similar in overall design and appointments, with the exception of pickups. Model KLS-1 will have a Lace Alumitone, and Model KLS-2 will have a Lollar P90 pickup. Both pickups produce clear highs, bell-like tones, and excellent sustain, where most single coils start to run off. The KLS-2 model with a Lollar pickup has a slightly warmer, more vintage tone and volume. For both models, we decided to retain the scale length of vintage lap steels of the past, at 22.5” similar to Fender, Gretsch, Gibson, and Rickenbacker. Koa top, mahogany body. Koa faceplate with pearl logo and pearl fingerboard dots. Choice of Koa or Pheasant Wood fingerboard with flush “frets” Ebony binding with “rope” purfling. Bone nut. Gotoh tuners and bridge. Ebony volume and tone control knobs. Gloss finish top, satin finish body. Includes a hardshell case. KLS-1 Retail List: $1,995.00 KLS-2 Retail List: $2,395.00 ~ click on images for a larger picture ~ KLS-1
