Special Note on Care and Maintenance of Stringed Instruments

 

**New Ko'olau VS Vintage Style 'Ukulele**

In addition to our new CS Ko'olau series, we will now be offereing our new (old style) Ko'olau Model VS Vintage Style 'Ukulele. Patterned after vintage style 'ukuleles with our own custom designs. Body woods can be either figured Koa or Mahogany. Faceplate, fingerboard, and bridge can be either Rosewood or Ebony. Besides a slightly modified body shape and interior bracing, on the Vintage Series we are also using vintgage style friction tuners, but a modern version with gearing for ease of tuning. Currently a Soprano size is in production, and possibly Concert and Tenor in the future. See below for further details.

 

Note on Woods: Ko'olau Guitar & 'Ukulele will be incorporating many new woods from the Hawaiian Islands. With the depletion of endangered forests throughout the earth, and especially the Pacific Islands, we feel morally obligated to conscientiously utilize properly managed, sustainable forestry products.

 

Ko'olau 'Ukulele Catagories: Future production of Ko'olau 'Ukuleles will be divided into two distinct catagories.

1. Standard Series: this includes Model 1 and Model 100, available in Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone size. These models retain the same high standard of quality as all Ko'olau instruments but the least adorned and thus most affordable. Please note that for Model 1, other than body woods, there are no other options available. Model 1 and Model 100 are the stock Ko'olau instruments available from our authorized dealers.

2. Custom Series: Various styles and options fall into this catagory, all "made to order" so to speak. The description below of each model specify what options are available. Please note, that to simplify both manufacturing and ordering, we offer a "base" price, and then optional upgrades. Custom instruments include the following:

VS Vintage Series 'Ukulele - Figured grain Hawaiian Koa or Hawaiian Mahogany top, back, and sides. Body style and adornment reminescent of original early 'ukuleles. Available with either Rosewood or Ebony faceplate, fingerboard, bridge, and binding (these are the only options available on the Vintage Series). Marquetry rosette and purfling. Bone nut and saddle. Vintage style friction tuners (with internal gearing). Includes a Ko'olau Hardshell Case.
